FISHING
REPORT 2008
|
| MARCH,
APRIL, MAY |
StrikeQuest
started the 2008 season fishing Mississippi River near Red Wing.
Had good Walleye success in the months of March and April. The month
of May is always a good time to check on the St. Croix River for
Walleye and Sauger action. Hit some lunker Walleye's on Memorial
Weekend fishing with Shane and Bob.
Shane Ferozzo and Ed Philpot took tenth place for heaviest stringer
in the "2nd Annual Beach Bar Walleye Classic" on the St.
Croix River out of 50 boats. I've created some new secret lures
that will be sure to help Shane on our next tournament. |
| JUNE |
| The
St. Croix continued to have walleye action in the month of June.
StrikeQuest switched gears to local lakes and had
success on Musky's and Big Northern Pike towards the last two weeks
in June. Ryan Francis caught a 47" Musky on the St. Croix!
Large mouth Bass fishing was tough. But we did hit some Big Bass
by night fishing on a couple of different lakes. |
JULY |
| This
was probably the best month for Strikequest on
what would be considered a very tough year for fishing. It was a
good month for Big Pike and some nice Tiger Musky's. Again I would
consider this a tough year for Large Mouth Bass as they did not
show on my off-shore Summer structures. We did manage to get in
a few trips on the upper Mississippi River North of St. Cloud, Minnesota,
which yielded some nice Small Mouth Bass. |
| AUGUST |
| Fishing
was very challenging in August; however, White Bear Lake did produce
a great day of Bass fishing near the beginning of the month. I felt
as though that fishing had taken a nose dive in August of '08 compared
to other years when I had good fishing in August, but that's what
makes fishing the challenge it is. Obviously a fish's life doesn't
revolve around eating and there are times when it seems totally
impossible to simply catch a fish. But I'm one who's willing to
risk my reputation to give it my best shot. Terri's Big Musky on
Labor Day lifted my spirits and led me into the Fall fishing with
renewed hope. |
| SEPTEMBER-OCTOBER |
My
Crappie / Walleye bite on the Lower St. Croix was very tough.
Finally by mid-October we did get into some good Small Mouth Bass
on the Upper St. Croix. The night bite for Walleyes on the Lower
St. Croix came on strong by mid-October and we did manage numbers
of fish to 9 pounds.
I'd
like to thank everyone that fished with me in '08.
Your patience and good spirit were greatly appreciated.
Hope to see you in '09 with renewed hope for a great season!
Your's
Truly, Ed Philpot |
